Ebbio

Take commandof memory.

A memory app that schedules every review from your forgetting curve, with FSRS-4.5 built in.

What you learn today starts fading tomorrow.

Without review, the chance of recall keeps falling.

Recall100%

Try a review, right here.

Press “Review” at the end of the light and recall jumps back to 100%. Before you forget, after you forget, as often as you like.

Again. As many times as you like.

Each review raises the stability S, and the curve falls more gently. Time keeps passing even while you wait.

Stability is the number of days until recall drops below 90%. It grows with every review.

FSRS-4.5

Forgetting has an equation.

R(t) = (1 + 1981 · tS )−0.5

These values are the result of your reviews on this page.

Stability S = 3.7 days (0 reviews)

Recall after t = 12 days: R = 70%

The probability of recall R depends only on the days elapsed t and the stability S. Ebbio keeps this curve for every item and asks for a review just before R falls below the target retention (90% by default). Too early, and the review does little. Too late, and you are relearning. Ebbio finds the day in between, every day.

SStability

Days until the probability of recall drops below 90%. It grows with every successful review, and grows most when you only just managed to recall (desirable difficulty).

DDifficulty

How hard an item is for you, from 1 to 10. Updated by your rating and pulled back toward the mean so it never sticks at an extreme.

RRecall

The probability that you would remember if asked now. A power-law curve fitted to hundreds of millions of real reviews, closer to real data than Ebbinghaus’s classical exponential.

tElapsed

Days since the last review. On this page, scrolling and waiting both become t.

Recall first. Then answer with a finger.

Look at the card and bring the answer to mind before anything else. Then swipe right, left, down or up. Recalling strengthens memory in a way that rereading never does.

Hierarchical labelling

Give every memory an address.

Anything that is not a vocabulary card usually dies in a memory app, because there is nowhere to put it. Ebbio gives you real hierarchy, so the rest of what you know has a shelf of its own.

A shelf for it means you can keep it.

  4. TagsClassification across every collection. “Weak”, “Before the exam”, “Need it on the ground”. As many as you like.
The look

You open it every day. It should be beautiful.

Seven accent colours, or make your own. Change the background, the cards and the text colour too. It ends up looking like yours, not like an app’s.

Press a colour. The whole page changes.

Privacy and security

Your memory stays on your device.

Memory is about as personal as data gets. Ebbio never sends it to a server; it protects it on the device, and you choose how strongly.

StorageOn-deviceSaved in the app’s local storage. Nothing is sent to a server, and no account is needed.
Key derivationPBKDF2-SHA256600,000 iterations. The key is derived only from your password.
EncryptionAES-256-GCMAuthenticated encryption from the standard Web Crypto API; tampering is detected. The key never leaves the device.
App lockRandomised number padA 4–8 digit passcode, any passphrase, or biometrics. The digits move every time.
Ads and trackingNoneRevenue comes from the one-time licence only. Your learning data is never used for advertising.

A second profile keeps the memories you would rather not show apart. Backups are JSON, encrypted or plain, saved wherever you choose.

Can I try it for free?

Yes. The free version, Ebbio Trial, includes every feature for up to 35 items with no restrictions: the forgetting-curve graphs, goal dates, encryption, all of it. If you like it, a one-time purchase of $3.99 removes the item limit.

How much does it cost? Is it a subscription?

A one-time purchase of $3.99. One payment makes it unlimited and nothing is charged after that. No subscription, no ads. Memory is a long-term matter, so the price is built for staying, not renting.

How is Ebbio different from other memory apps?

Three things. First, the modern spaced-repetition algorithm FSRS-4.5 is built in rather than bolted on: it runs from your very first item with no setup. Second, it is not limited to flashcards; procedures, maps, work knowledge and everyday know-how all run on the same mechanism. Third, hierarchical labelling with Collections, trees, paths and tags, and a design where your data never leaves the device.

Can I remember things other than flashcards?

Yes. Anything you want to keep: a fact, a formula, a procedure, a map, a recipe. Organise it with Collections (a textbook, a subject, a project), a tree of chapters inside each one, direct positions like “1-3-6”, and tags across everything. You can build a book’s table of contents first and generate items from it in one step.

Can it work toward an exam date?

Yes. Set a goal date on an item or a collection and Ebbio works backward along the forgetting curve to schedule the last review so that retention on the day meets the target (95% by default). Neither cramming nor spacing that ignores the deadline: scheduling built for the exam.

Can I customise how it looks?

Yes. Auto, light or dark theme. Seven accent colours (blue, green, teal, purple, orange, pink, indigo) or any colour you make yourself, and you can change the background, card and text colours individually. The colour theme and custom screen colours are perks of the one-time purchase.
